“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.” Anais Nin
We can evolve quicker in one domain and slower in another. Growth and personal development don’t happen in any particular way or in any particular time frame. We grow at our own pace and time. Don’t rush it. We all have patterns, behaviors, and layers to examine and unravel. The important thing is to be aware moment to moment to what arises.
Years ago, I was in a therapy session and was frustrated. I told my therapist that I wish my progress with anxiety was quicker or I wish I would have paid attention to it years ago. My therapist looked at me and asked “have you ever been to the Grand Canyon?” “Of course,” I said. “I love the grand canyon.” She then said that the Grand Canyon was not formed over night. It took millions of years for the Colorado River to weave it’s way through the rocks and form that beautiful marvel.
